Funds going toward urology services in 100 Mile House

web RBC donation to SCHF_ copyThe South Cariboo Health Foundation (SCHF) received a sizable donation from the Royal Bank of Canada to mark the bank’s milestone 50th anniversary in 100 Mile House.

The $25,000 donation from the RBC Foundation was given to the SCHF for many reasons, explains local RBC community manager Scott Saito.

“RBC is committed to supporting communities where we work and live. Our support of hospitals through our branch anniversary program is about celebrating the history of the community and the community members.

New Automated Bathtubs

The SCHF donated $42,684. toward the $71,140 purchase, the the balance ($28,456) funded by the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District.

Foundation provides funding for new consultation room

spring2015The 100 Mile and District Hospital has a new chemotherapy consultation room, thanks to the fundraising from the South Cariboo Health Foundation.

Dr. Gordon Hutchinson, the hospital’s general practitioner for oncology, says he is “absolutely pleased about this. A great and noticeable improvement appreciated by patients and families.”

It facilitates a more comfortable delivery of his cancer consultation services. “It was a cubby hole. You couldn’t ger more than one family member inside and there was a lack of privacy.”

The cost of $15,400 was shared by the SCHF and Cariboo-Regional district.

Golf tourney to support local health care

While it can’t be said that every round of golf is good for the heart, an upcoming Fun Golf Tournament in 100 Mile House is aiming to be.

Golfers of all skill levels are invited to “drive one for the health of your heart” on June 20. The event will benefit the South Cariboo Health Foundation, which is fundraising to purchase two new electrocardiogram (ECG) analyzers for the 100 Mile House Hospital lab.

Tee off is 1 p.m. at Marmot Ridge Golf Course in 100 Mile House.

Cost is $35 per person, which includes a nine-hole round, BBQ, silent auction, 50/50 draw and prizes.
